Hello world.
Foreword: Please note this substack is still under construction, so everything is set to defaults, including if it tries to get you to give me money. I haven’t set it up and nobody should feel compelled to give me any money, because I can’t logically believe anyone would pay for this.
Recently, I have become infatuated with AI generated art, which produces results from text to image. Like flower-arranging, I cannot always reproduce what I make, each thing I make exists mostly in that moment of time, and through hours of patience and rearrangements I may choose one or two manipulated, filtered, processed, rescaled and repaired pieces to show you. I can’t promise I have important or interesting things to say to you, but I can promise a few things:
I will have jauntily amused myself.
Several hours will have been spent producing the results of prompts that I hesitate to call art, and thus, I will be calling them arrangements. This is a pedantic distinction of little consequence, but inspired by heartfelt respect.
Everything will be extremely overworked, edited until it no longer makes any sense to me and until I’m tired of looking at it, even with zero subscribers.
About me:
Kaoru is my Japanese middle name, but I am born and raised in China and then mostly the U.S. I spent most of that childhood speaking a broken pidgin of languages that nobody could understand except my grandfather. Since then, I’ve spent my entire career in technology, although my interests are so unspecialized that I’ve technically have had my writing published in a book. People parted with their material wealth in order to read what I wrote, and may do so again in the near future, which baffles me. In my non-paid time, I’m a Discord moderator for a comedian and lots of people who play video games. I spend my time poorly, but always with mirth. Wanna hang out???
Today’s prompt was made for the launch of this post. It took about a dozen iterations using Bing’s DALL.E 2 and then was upscaled using Bigjpg. I didn’t have to fix anybody’s face because mercifully it was rendered faceless.
